Founded in 1838, the University of St Mark & St John is a distinctive university with a reputation for providing an outstanding student experience leading to high levels of employment. Our staff know all their students by name, our class sizes are small, class contact hours are high and students are supported to be the very best they can be.

Situated on an attractive single campus with its own world-class sport facilities, close to the beautiful South West coast of Devon and Cornwall, the City of Plymouth and Dartmoor National Park, our students enjoy an inspiring mix of city, coast and countryside.

Our degrees integrate a wide range of activities and opportunities to enhance your experience, qualifications and employability. This approach, underpinned by our values and by digital scholarship, global citizenship and employer partnership, enables you to benefit from internships, professional qualifications, international exchanges, research opportunities and more.

We are proud to be the best university in the UK for Social Mobility and became only the fourth university to have been awarded the Social Enterprise Mark. In 2015 the university secured investment of £2.8 million from the higher Education Funding Council to support the implementation of our ambitious 10 year strategic plan, Challenging Horizons, designed to ensure that the university remains at the cutting edge of teaching, expands it research provision and enables all students to realise their full potential.
