The Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) is a Brazilian federal public higher education institution, maintained, therefore, by the Federal Government of Brazil. It is headquartered in the city of Recife, in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil.
In 1965 the University of Recife began to integrate the new education system of the country with the name of Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), an autarchy linked to the MEC.
