The Mineira Foundation for Education and Culture (FUMEC), a private and non-profit legal entity, was founded in 1965.
With the initial implementation of the Faculty of Business Sciences (FACE) and the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (FEA) , the Institution expanded its areas of activity and later created the Faculty of Human Sciences (FCH), now the Faculty of Human, Social and Health Sciences.
In 2000, the FUMEC University Center was created. With the development of pedagogical projects, teaching staff and infrastructure, in 2004 the Institution achieved accreditation as a university.
