Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) is an innovative Lithuanian University, educating highly qualified and creative specialists. The University is the leader among the institutions of technological science education, ensuring modern studies, orientated to the labour market. Scientific research and experimental development is performed by 14 institutes, 3 research centres and 34 research laboratories.
VGTU is proud of Civil Engineering Research Centre, the most modern centre in the Eastern Europe, as well as the Mobile Applications Laboratory, the biggest one in Lithuania. Having more than 400 foreign high school partners, VGTU offers good opportunities for wide international studies and practice. VGTU is the leader in Lithuania by the number of students, studying under the Erasmus Exchange Programme abroad.
According to international university ranking QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017 in Engineering – Civil & Structural subject group VGTU ranks at 101-150 place, and is the only university in the Baltic States at such a high position in the area of Civil Engineering sciences. In the subject of Architecture / Built Environment VGTU also stands at 101-150 place. In addition to this, the university is also ranked in Business & Management Studies (201-250 place), and in subjects of Economics & Econometrics (301–350 place) among top world universities. These results are the best in Lithuania. This year’s QS World University Rankings by Subject feature a record 46 subjects. VGTU has been evaluated in 20 subjects, and in 10 of them ranks the highest in Lithuania.
