Founded in Lisbon on June 28, 1986, by the Lusíada University Education Cooperative, crl, which, by Decree-Law No. 117/2003, of 14 June, became the Minerva Foundation - Culture - Teaching and Scientific Research , soon the Lusíada University extended its activities to Porto and Vila Nova de Famalicão, and later to Angola and São Tomé e Príncipe.
Today, 27 years after its existence, Lusíada Universities are proud of their national and international dimension, the prestige achieved and, above all, the contribution given to the country in the university formation of a significant part of its youth.
In fact, the approximately 33,000 national graduates who have obtained their higher education at national level today play a fundamental role in the cultural, economic and social development of the country, fulfilling the noblest objectives of the universities. Lusíada and, therefore, are the most eloquent testimony that they are reference Universities.
The verification of this reality has demanded from the Lusíada Universities a continuous effort to qualify their faculty, to update their technical and technological equipments and to renew their pedagogical practices, always aiming at a teaching that is only subordinated to the principles of quality and of scientific rigor.
