Aksaray University was founded in 2006 and has been improving its facilities as well as its capacity to admit students from various fields. Basically, it was part of Nigde University and was mainly the branch for Vocational schools in technical and administrative departments. In 2010, there are about 600 academic and administrative staff with its four faculties, two academic institutes and seven vocational schools. Establishment of four new faculties has been approved by the Council of Higher Education. Its motto is designed to emphasize to globally thinking while preserving the locality.
