Established in 1972, the mandate of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) as defined in the NWSC Act 2000, Cap 317, is to operate and provide water and sewerage services in areas entrusted to it on a sound, commercial and viable basis.
Currently, the Corporation is responsible for the provision of water supply and sewerage services in 66 towns, spread all over the country, with a population of 3.6 million people.
This represents 77% of the large urban centres.
