Adexen was mandated by an Oil & Gas company operating in the downstream industry to recruit an experienced Depot Manager for their operations in Nigeria. The position is based in Lagos, Nigeria.
Responsibilities
The Depot Manager holds a pivotal role encompassing critical and strategic managerial responsibilities within the terminal. The role demands the supervision of the day-to-day operations in the fuel terminal with a focus on operational excellence, technical support, improvements, cost management, safety, and business continuity.
Represent the company in high-profile business meetings with external entities and engage with diverse stakeholders of the business.
Develop procedure manuals in line with industry practices for HSE, maintenance operations, logistics, etc., to ensure smooth and seamless operations within the depot.
Plan product supply in conjunction with the trading department and monitor vessel loading/discharge activities
Innovatively propose and follow up on the implementation of methods that will make operations cheaper, safer, and faster. This includes, especially, the discharge and delivery truck filling activities
Oversee the daily monitoring of stock in the storage tank to ensure no product loss
Coordinate all depot activities concerning government agencies such as NMDPRA, NNPC, NPA, NIMASA, etc.
Ensure the security of the depot and machinery at all times
Ensure terminal assets are maintained in accordance with the preventive maintenance program.
Provide periodic reports to make recommendations to management on required upgrades and modifications in the depot
Ensure operating licenses and permits are renewed in time to avoid service interruption
Responsible for managing all operational activities in the depot.
Review and optimize standard operational procedures
Execute operational, OE/HES activities per established priorities such as product receipt, tank gauging, truck loading/unloading, product sampling, transfers, and quality control checks of petroleum products
Participate in stakeholders' meetings to improve logistics and operations associated with activities of storage facilities
Plan, schedule, monitor, and supervise all aspects of the daily depot operations to ensure safe depot operations at all times, sustainability, zero incidence, and injury.
Act as an asset custodian and ensure that company assets in the depots are kept securely and affordably maintained in a manner that will ensure they are preserved and serve satisfactorily over their expected lifetime of useful service
Execute planned routine (small) maintenance activities such as, but not limited to, fire extinguisher inspections, valve lubrication and replacements, emergency generator test runs, firewater pump tests, and others, as instructed
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in in Mechanical, Electrical or Petroleum Engineering etc. from a recognized University
Minimum of 14 years cognate experience in the Oil and Gas downstream sector, preferably in a tank farm environment, 5 of which must have been at senior management level.
Membership with relevant professional bodies (e g. Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation / Shipping / Engineers, etc.)
Applicants who have attended advanced courses in Energy, Petroleum Refining / Trading and Marine Transportation or any other relevant course of study may also be considered.
Understanding of the transport industry and an ability to relate with shipping companies, maritime agencies and other associated industry managers
Experience in cost efficiency and productivity optimization through process optimization
Extensive understanding of modem terminal operations
Extensive knowledge of company operational procedures
Experience in finance related matters, setting budgets and reporting against financial objectives
Ability to provide leadership, obtain cooperation and assistance to meet objectives
