Technical Manager (Marine Works)

Job Introduction

Adexen is seeking an Technical Manager to oversee the technical design and engineering aspects of a port reconstruction project. Our client is a prominent civil construction group in Nigeria.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, marine infrastructure, and project management. This role requires extensive expertise in technical planning, design validation, and execution oversight, ensuring that all engineering aspects comply with international standards and regulatory requirements.

• Lead the technical design and engineering aspects of the port reconstruction project, ensuring compliance with global best practices and local regulations.
• Oversee feasibility studies, structural analysis, and technical assessments to optimize design and construction processes.
• Collaborate with consultants, engineers, and contractors to review and validate engineering designs and specifications.
• Provide technical leadership in the selection of construction materials, methodologies, and innovative engineering solutions.
• Ensure project milestones are met by coordinating with project management teams, government agencies, and external stakeholders.
• Identify and mitigate engineering risks, ensuring safety and environmental sustainability throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor construction progress, resolve technical issues, and provide strategic guidance on complex engineering challenges.
• Lead and mentor technical teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Prepare and present technical reports, project documentation, and compliance reports to senior management and regulatory bodies.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in marine infrastructure, port development, or large-scale civil engineering projects.
• Proven track record in leading technical design and engineering aspects of complex infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of international engineering standards, including FIDIC, IMO, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
• Experience in working with government agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
• Professional certification (e.g., COREN, PMP, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
